Russian Cinema Week in Greece

Russian Cinema Week in GreeceRussia Cinema Week in Greece will take place in Thessaloniki from May 20th-24th, and in Athens from May 26th-29th as part of 2016's declaration of being the Year of Greco-Russo Friendship. Participating will be the Russian film company Leda Film. Supporting the efforts of Russian Cinema Week will be the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Greek Ministry of Culture, the Russian Embassy in Greece, the Russian Consul General in Thessaloniki, the municipalities of Athens and Thessaloniki and the Mouzenides Group, which is providing air transport for the Russian contingent to Greece through its air company Ellinair.

The week kicks off on Friday, May 20th, at 7:30 PM at the Hotel Pomegranate Wellness Spa in Halkidiki, with a showing of Sergius Mokritski's film The Battle for Sevastopol.

The showings are intended to expose the public to Russian culture and to promote cooperation between Russian and Greek filmmakers, and to strengthen ties between the two nations.

In Thessaloniki screenings will take place in Paul Zannas Hall at the Olympion, Aristotle Square #10.

In Athens, the official opening will take place on May 26th at the War Museum, Rizari 2, while screenings will take place at the Greek Film Archive, Holly Street 48 & Alexander 134-135 (Kerameikos metro stop).
