Full Moon at the Acropolis Museum18-19 August 2016
August’s full moon will be celebrated during 2 evenings this year, on the 18th and 19th of the month. On Thursday, the 18th, music from The Swingin Cats will be on offer in the museum’s front courtyard featuring both Greek and foreign tunes, plus dancing. They will also be playing selections from the Greek cinema.
Museum galleries will stay open till midnight, which will give visitors extra time to view the temporary exhibit Dodona, the oracle of sounds, about the famous oracle in northwestern Greece. The 2nd floor restaurant bill be open as well. Tables can be booked by phoning 210-900-0915. The restaurant will host 3 Athenian jazz artists, Spyros Rontogianni on saxophone, Georgie Tsiropoulos on piano and Chris Koromila on contrabass.
On Friday, the 19th, the exhibits will stay open till 10PM, with the restaurant open till midnight. After 8, there will be dinner or drinks on the terrace accompanied by harpist Theodoris Matoula. The jazz trio will be back in the restaurant for an encore performance.
