Greek Ferry Workers on Strike May 1
There will be no ferry service throughout Greece on May 1, as members of the Pan-Hellenic Seaman's Federation will be on a 24-hour strike beginning at one minute after midnight on May 1, and ending at midnight the same day, making the exact length of the strike 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds.
Greek ferry workers are attempting to have pension levels and labor rights restored to levels seen before the current financial crisis and the cuts that the Memorandum imposed on them and everyone else in the country earlier in the decade. Also at issue are insurance and a rise in unemployment in the sector.
Travelers who have already booked ferries will be refunded in full.
