Greek Tourism on Excellent Course: Kountoura
Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura sounds very happy with the state of Greece's tourism industry, reporting that it is on an "Excellent course" during the 1st Greek Travel Show held over the weekend in the Athens area.
The focus of the Travel Show, which was held at the Helexpo Maroussi convention center, was domestic tourism - Greeks visiting Greece.
"We aim for all Greeks to travel in their country, to get to know each destination, its history, its people and local products and of course to enjoy the beauty and incomparable hospitality of our country," Minister Kountoura said. said.
Ms. Kountoura also talked about her Ministry's recent efforts to promote Greece as a 365 days -a-year tourist destination, and its strategy of developing thematic tourism. “Our goal is to motivate a new tourism activity, additional revenues and employment as well as new investments in popular and new Greek destinations that we are promoting for the profit to be allocated to the local economies throughout Greece all year round,” she said.
Kountoura, who assumed the office of Tourism Minister in September, 2015, has proven to be an energetic and effective ambassador for the Greek tourism product, overseeing dramatic increases in visits to Greece, year-to-year.
