High-Speed Ferry Service From Thessaloniki to the Sporades Islands to Begin June 16
Hellenic Seaways will inaugurate a ferry route from Greece's second-largest city, Thessaloniki, to the Sporades, the island group off mainland Greece's east coast, on June 16th, 2016. The service will run until September 25th. Hellenic Seaways is responding to high demand for the route from potential passengers, and is expected to be a factor in the increase of foreign tourism to both destinations. The Flying Cat 4, high-speed catamaran-type ferry, seats up to 440 passengers and will reach speeds of up to 40 knots, shrinking travel times to less than 3 hours.
The route will operate 7 days a week, with departures from Thessaloniki slated for 9AM, with ports of call being Skopelos, Alonnisos, and Skiathos. The return trip departs from Skiathos at 7:10 PM and reverses the route, stopping at Alonnisos and Skiathos before continuing on to Thessaloniki, with an arrival time at 10:45 PM. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays will include stops at Glossa, Skopelos.
