High Speed Ferry Service Thessaloniki-Sporades Kicks Off
Because of constant demand from potential customers, the ferry service from Thessaloniki to the Sporades, off the central-east coast of mainland Greece will begin anew starting June 16th. The service had been discontinued in recent years due to the ongoing financial crisis.
High speed, Catamaran-style ferries will leave daily from Thessaloniki's harbor, linking that city with the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos, and Alonissos, making the trip in around 3 hours.
In addition, as of June 19th Volos and northern Greece will have ferry service to the largest of the Sporades, Skyros, every Sunday morning from the port of Volos. This ferry will also make stops at Skiathos, Skopelos, and Alonissos (to and from Volos).
If customer demand supports it, more frequent service will be put into place next year.
