Minister of Culture Promotes Priceless Treasures of Pella
Minister of Economy and Tourism Ms. Eleni Kountoura recently Pella, where she took a two-day tour at the invitation of Secretary of State Ms. Theodora Tzakri.
Ms. Kountoura said, “Our aim is to strengthen the district and all the tourist destinations, highlighting the cultural and tourist wealth of all regions of Greece, promoting a variety of categories of tourism including, religious, thematic, and spa tourism.”
The two ministers visited the Archaeological Museum of Pella, the Water Museum, the Park of the Waterfalls of Edessa, and the monasteries of the region, and the Pozar thermal spa.
Representatives of organizations and the government analyzed tourist infrastructure problems facing the region, and examined proposals to extend the tourist season.
Ms. Kountouras stressed that alternative forms of tourism can bring many benefits, upgrading and expanding Greek tourism efforts. Especially in the area of Pella, culture can be properly promoted, religious and spa tourism, rural tourism, the Air Sports and sports tourism for extreme sports can be developed, while the ski resort center, with a comprehensive operational improvement plan of service, can be an important factor in developing winter tourism in the region.
